Christmas loneliness averted by lunch

16 Jan, 2012 01:00 AM
LONELINESS was not an issue for the 82 people who attended last year's Combined Churches Community Christmas Lunch held on Christmas Day.

Organisers Judy and Graham MacKenzie urged the community to make sure people were not alone on the special day.

They have thanked everyone who made the event such a success.

"It was absolutely brilliant," Mrs MacKenzie said.

"I think the most important point Graham and I would like to make is that this (lunch) is only possible due to the generosity of local businesses, groups and individuals, and the willing help of so many volunteers."

"The whole thing went really well, we had heaps of good feedback - we're thrilled to bits."

Attendees included up to 20 fruit pickers from New Guinea, three from France and one from Germany.
