FORMER Deloraine residents travelled from across Tasmania to relive the Deloraine Dramatic Society's colourful history last month.
The society brought together old and new cast members to resurrect some of their best performances for its 60th anniversary celebration at Little Theatre, Deloraine.
Life member Patricia Woods said the society had many achievements, memories and people to celebrate at the dinner show.
"We've had some absolutely extraordinary productions because we've had fantastic people behind them - for example, music director Kent Furmage and overall director Edward Talbot made some absolutely brilliant shows in the '80s and '90s that would stand against any Melbourne or Sydney production," Mrs Woods said.
"There was also a trilogy of plays called The Norman Conquests by Alan Ayckbourne and we did a scene from 1992 ... we put that scene on again for the anniversary dinner and all the people from 1992 got together with the director.
"Over the past 10 years there have been quite a few community productions done by Tim Clarke and we put four of those on as well ... and we also had Danny Gibson and Vivienne Adams put on a musical number.
"It was lovely to be together again ... it is nostalgic and I suppose there is a certain amount of pride involved in being a part of something that was so good."
Mrs Woods said the society's greatest achievement had been surviving 60 years.
"In a small town such as Deloraine it's unusual for an amateur theatre society to last so long ... but Deloraine is a very creative community and there are a lot of people who appreciate the arts."
