DEBBIE EASTLEY and Rodney Brewer have qualified to undertake more advanced life saving procedures after completing their level 11 volunteer ambulance officer certificates.
Ms Eastley and Mr Brewer were presented with their certificates at an Ambulance Tasmania function held at Sullivan's restaurant at Deloraine on Friday, July 22.
Northern operations manager Matthew Eastham and regional manager Bob Holton attended the event.
Regional manager Bob Holton said the function was a chance to recognise Ms Eastley's and Mr Brewer's efforts.
"It's a great effort on their part. Not only do they volunteer their time to go to cases they also do training programs," Mr Holton said.
"It's a big time commitment."
Mr Holton said the state's ambulance system relied on hundreds of volunteers.
"Without volunteers our rural region would be more complicated to run and we would have to rely to more external support," he said.
Mr Holton said the certificates allowed them to practise independently and it helped the branch to better do their job.
Anyone that was interested in becoming a volunteer was asked to contact Ambulance Tasmania's Northern regional headquarters on 6336 5777.
